With winter not quite behind us and spring ever-so-slowly creeping back into our lives, March is a month in limbo. Luckily, there are five fun new things to keep our spirits high until we can bust out those off-the-shoulder sundresses (weeee!). DRY CONDITIONER DEBUTS It’s safe to say you’ve heard of dry shampoo. In fact, you’re kind of the master. Now you’re ready for the next iteration: DryBar’s brand-spanking-new dry conditioner. It’s another great way to keep your blowouts looking fresh. Instead of soaking up oils from your roots like its cleansing counterpart, this one lightly hydrates and refreshes the rest of your hair without any heavy or oily residue. Spray it liberally from the middle to the ends to eliminate frizz and quench dry strands. Bonus: It also smells like heaven. THE CHERRY BLOSSOMS BLOOM While the cherry blossoms in Tokyo would be the ultimate spring destination, Washington, D.C. also has its fair share of beautiful blooms just waiting for you to admire. Stay at The George Hotel, convenient to Union Station and the local sites. While you’re there, hit up the Cherry Blossom Beer + Wine Festival before you stop for Mediterranean eats and an impressive wine list at Iron Gate. MADEWELL + DARYL K COLLABORATION LAUNCHES This limited-edition fashion pairing brings rock ‘n’ roll ’90s vibes firmly into present day. Think fringe, denim, high waists and all-around downtown cool. They’ve only just recently hit the Madewell site, so go ahead and score the pieces you’ll be living in for the rest of the season before they’re gone. BULLET JOURNALING CHANGES TO-DO LISTS FOREVER Just because you can type everything into your smartphone doesn’t mean you should. Enter: bullet journaling--a new organizational method for people who prefer a physical notebook to a smartphone app to keep track of their daily tasks. The system uses hand-drawn symbols to signify if a task has been completed or if it needs to be moved or changed. It’s also a way for all the purists out there (aka those who prefer a good ol' journal for spring cleaning tasks) to stay competitively organized in the digital era. GROW LAMPS HAVE THEIR MOMENT The long winter months can take just as big a toll on your plants as they can on your aforementioned tight muscles. As for the plants, snag a sleek grow lamp that brings light into your home and refreshes your beloved greenery with specialized LED lights. At the base of this new lamp-planter hybrid is a natural hydroponic soil substitute called rockwool. Just pop in a few succulents, herbs or ferns then add water and watch as your house comes to life.
